Technical Support Engineer – Kubernetes, Linux & Infrastructure

Job Summary

We are seeking a customer-focused and technically capable Field Engineer to provide on-site infrastructure deployment, software system support, and ongoing technical assistance to customers in Indonesia.

The successful candidate will work closely with Indonesian customers and operations and maintenance specialists based in China. The role combines hands-on server and network hardware deployment with Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, and application-support responsibilities.

The Field Engineer will be responsible for diagnosing technical issues, coordinating cross-border support, supporting system implementation and acceptance, and ensuring that deployed systems operate reliably.

Key Responsibilities

Customer and Technical Support

• Communicate with Indonesian customers to understand technical requirements, identify issues, and provide appropriate technical solutions.

• Provide on-site and remote technical support for deployed hardware and software systems.

• Troubleshoot system incidents, analyse technical issues, and coordinate timely resolution.

• Escalate complex issues to operations and maintenance specialists based in China.

• Coordinate cross-border technical support activities between customers and internal technical teams.

• Provide post-deployment support and follow up on outstanding technical issues.

Hardware and Infrastructure Deployment

• Perform on-site installation, deployment, commissioning, and maintenance of servers, switches, and related infrastructure.

• Carry out rack mounting, cabling, equipment connection, labelling, and network connectivity checks.

• Support basic configuration and troubleshooting of server and networking equipment.

• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance activities.

• Assist with hardware fault diagnosis, replacement, and recovery activities.

Kubernetes, Docker, and Linux Support

• Support the deployment, operation, and maintenance of Docker- and Kubernetes-based environments.

• Perform basic Kubernetes deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and daily operational activities.

• Troubleshoot container, node, service, networking, storage, and application-related issues.

• Perform Linux system administration and maintenance using common commands and diagnostic tools.

• Monitor system resources, services, processes, logs, CPU utilisation, memory utilisation, and disk usage.

Software and Application Support

• Provide technical support for software systems following deployment.

• Assist with application troubleshooting, incident resolution, and service recovery.

• Support middleware and data components such as MySQL, Redis, and Kafka.

• Coordinate with developers, infrastructure teams, and operations teams when resolving system issues.

• Support system upgrades, configuration changes, and maintenance activities.

Testing, Documentation, and Training

• Assist with system installation testing, commissioning, acceptance testing, and handover activities.

• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, deployment records, operation manuals, incident reports, and support reports.

• Document troubleshooting steps, root causes, corrective actions, and preventive measures.

• Provide basic system training and operational guidance to customers, end users, and customer technical teams.

• Ensure that all assigned technical tasks are completed accurately and within the required timeline.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker.

• Good understanding of Kubernetes core components, container deployment, daily operations, and basic troubleshooting.

• Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and English, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and international technical teams.

• Familiarity with physical servers and networking products, including servers, switches, cabling, and network connectivity.

• Ability to perform basic server and network equipment configuration and troubleshooting.

• Working knowledge of Linux operating systems such as CentOS, openEuler, Ubuntu, or similar distributions.

• Familiarity with Linux commands and tools such as top, free, sed, awk, grep, systemctl, journalctl, and other common maintenance commands.

• Basic understanding of middleware and data technologies such as MySQL, Redis, and Kafka.

• Basic awareness of Large Language Model technologies and their potential applications within artificial intelligence systems.

• Experience in technical support, infrastructure support, system support, application support, DevOps, cloud operations, or a related position.

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Good communication, teamwork, and customer-service skills.

• Strong sense of responsibility and ability to independently manage assigned technical issues.

• Willingness to work overtime, participate in on-call rotations, and support urgent incident-response situations when required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in spoken and written Mandarin. (Added Advantage)

• Experience supporting customers or users in a software system, technical support, or application support environment.

• Familiarity with IT service management processes, including incident management, problem management, and change management.

• Practical experience in server installation, hardware deployment, infrastructure implementation, and operations and maintenance.

• Experience working with international, cross-border, or multicultural project teams.

• Experience supporting containerised applications, microservices, or private cloud environments.

• Basic knowledge of artificial intelligence platforms, GPU servers, or Large Language Model deployment environments.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Relevant technical certifications in Linux, Kubernetes, cloud computing, networking, or IT service management would be an advantage.
