Staff Route Analyst (Transportation)

Job Scope

Responsible for analyzing, designing, and optimizing transportation routes to improve distribution efficiency, fleet utilization, and on-time delivery performance. This role leverages operational data, GPS tracking, and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to provide data-driven insights and strategic recommendations that support operational excellence, cost optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives across transportation operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize transportation routes to improve operational efficiency, on-time delivery performance, and fleet utilization.

• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve route plans based on customer locations, vehicle capacity, operational schedules, and business requirements.

• Analyze operational data, GPS tracking information, and Transportation Management System (TMS) data to identify performance improvement opportunities.

• Monitor route performance through key indicators such as On-Time Delivery (OTD), travel time, route distance, fleet utilization, and fuel consumption.

• Investigate route deviations, delivery delays, and operational inefficiencies, and provide data-driven recommendations for corrective actions.

• Evaluate transportation costs and recommend initiatives to improve cost efficiency through route optimization and fleet utilization.

• Collaborate with Operations, Dispatch, Driver Coordinators, Customer Service, and other cross-functional teams to ensure effective route execution.

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly analytical reports to support operational monitoring and management decision-making.

• Maintain the accuracy of route master data, customer locations, and transportation databases.

• Participate in Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) projects to enhance productivity, service quality, and transportation efficiency.

• Support transportation digitalization initiatives through data analysis, dashboards, and system enhancements.

• Ensure all route planning and analytical activities comply with company policies, operational standards, quality requirements, and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Transport Planning, Route Planning, Logistics Analysis, Supply Chain, or a similar role.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to process and interpret large volumes of operational data.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, Lookup functions, and Power Query preferred).

• Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS), GPS Tracking Systems, or route planning applications.

• Good understanding of transportation operations, logistics, fleet management, and route optimization.

• Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence and data visualization tools is an advantage.

• Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.

• Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a dynamic operational environment.
