The Opportunity

We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help build and scale the services that power Voca's growing commerce ecosystem. In this role, you'll design, develop, and operate highly scalable backend systems that support payments, wallet services, transaction processing, digital distribution, and internal platforms. You'll work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions that serve millions of users across the region.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
• Develop reliable, secure, and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Take ownership of services from design and implementation to deployment and operations.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Business teams to deliver impactful features.
• Improve system performance, scalability, observability, and reliability.
• Participate in architecture discussions, technical planning, and code reviews.
• Troubleshoot production issues and drive long-term improvements.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Help shape the future of our platform and technology stack.

What You'll Bring

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Go (Golang).
• Experience building and operating production-grade backend services.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and/or gRPC services.
• Solid knowledge of relational databases, data modeling, and query optimization.
• Experience working with Redis, messaging systems, or event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Experience with Docker and modern CI/CD practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to take ownership and drive projects independently.

Nice to Have

• Experience with high-volume payment, wallet, fintech, gaming, or e-commerce platforms.
• Experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar messaging technologies.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, or distributed tracing.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience building systems that handle high transaction volumes and strict reliability requirements.
