Medical Laboratory Analyst
Job ResponsibilitiesCollect biological specimens, including blood, urine, feces, sputum, and other specimens (e.g., throat, vaginal, rectal, or other swab specimens), in accordance with established procedures and applicable standards.
Perform clinical laboratory testing, including hematology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis, serology, rapid diagnostic tests, and other authorized laboratory examinations within the scope of practice.
Prepare, operate, maintain, and perform routine checks on laboratory equipment to ensure proper functionality.
Conduct calibration, quality control, and accurate documentation of laboratory testing activities and results.
Verify the validity of laboratory test results and report findings to the requesting or responsible physician in accordance with established procedures.
Maintain the confidentiality and security of patient information and laboratory records in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and professional ethics.
Ensure proper storage, handling, and inventory control of laboratory reagents, consumables, and specimens in accordance with laboratory standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements, including the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), infection prevention and control measures, medical waste management, and instrument decontamination or sterilization, as applicable.
Perform all laboratory duties in accordance with applicable laws, professional standards, clinic policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Qualifications
Minimum Diploma (D3) in Medical Laboratory Technology, Health Laboratory Science, or an equivalent recognized qualification.
Valid Registration Certificate (STR) and applicable Laboratory Practice License (SIP), as required by prevailing regulations.
Minimum one (1) year of experience in a clinical laboratory is preferred; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
Knowledge of clinical laboratory testing methods, laboratory SOPs, quality control and quality assurance (QC/QA), and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards.
Proficient in specimen collection and preparation, operation of manual and automated laboratory equipment, data entry, documentation, and laboratory quality control procedures.
Demonstrates professionalism, attention to detail, integrity, commitment to quality, and the ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
