Container Handling Equipment (CHE) Manager

Job Responsibilities:

The position responsible to manage, control, and monitor all activities related to Container Handling Equipment (QC, RTG, Mobile Equipment, Inventory) to ensure equipment is consistently in optimal and safe condition to support operations and productivity while actively optimizing lifecycle costs and enforcing strict adherence to international engineering standards.

• Maintenance & Repair Guidance: Guide the maintenance teams in the daily maintenance and repair of container handling equipment in the port.

• Equipment Performance Targets: Ensure container handling equipment performance meets operational targets.

• Engineering Standards & Best Practices: Ensure and maintain excellent engineering standards and practices, strictly adhering to recognized international design and safety standards (e.g., FEM, ISO).

• Deep-Dive Breakdown & RCA Analysis: Lead deep-dive investigations and formal Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on complex equipment breakdowns (mechanical and electrical), implementing permanent countermeasures and strategic improvements.

• Project & Equipment Management: Handle projects as and when assigned by the Senior Management, mainly on procurement of container handling equipment, equipment spare parts, equipment modification/retrofits, workshop facilities, and plants. Manage spare parts & procurement strategy on matters concerning spare parts including tender evaluation, inventory adjustment, non-stock items purchase, and advocating for optimal procurement strategies (e.g., assessing direct appointment versus open tender for major overhaul components).

• Lifecycle Cost & Budget Control: Optimize lifecycle maintenance costs and actively monitor the expenditure budget against the approved budget for all equipment under the section’s purview.

• EMS Utilization & Enhancement: Utilize and continuously enhance EMS (Engineering Management System) as a tool to improve engineering work processes.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s or Masters degree in mechanical, electrical or related engineering field

2. Minimum 10 years’ experience in heavy equipment maintenance or related technical field with similar industry.

3. English Fluency is Mandatory.

4. Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills and strong in Reporting & Presentation skill

5. Verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively align with Internal and External Stakeholder

6. Have a good ability to work independently and drive departmental initiatives

7. Familiar and has good skills in Container Handling Equipment knowledge and skills on Drives, PLCs, Spreaders, and Electrical Equipment, with a strong, required familiarity with equipment electrification, hybrid systems, and safety systems.

8. Familiar with Procurement and Inventory Management, including contract and SLA oversight

9. Leadership and Organization Management, specifically demonstrating experience in optimizing and managing a large, mixed workforce of internal personnel and external vendors.
