About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Telecom Transport & IP Broadband Network SME to become the technical authority for the Gi-Interface and Broadband Internet domain within a leading telecommunications carrier environment.
This role will oversee critical network components across the IP Core Network, Gi Interface, Internet Gateway, Large-Scale NAT (LSN/CGNAT), Load Balancing, DNS, CDN, and Internet Interconnection domains.
The SME will play a key role in ensuring the availability, scalability, resiliency, and performance of broadband internet services serving millions of subscribers.
Beyond day-to-day technical operations, this position will drive network architecture validation, capacity planning, operational governance, vendor management, incident resolution, and future automation/AI initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. IP Core & Broadband Network Authority
Act as the technical authority for the Gi-Interface and Broadband Internet domain.
Provide technical direction across IP Core and Internet-facing components, including:
Backbone Routers
Internet Gateways
Load Balancers
LSN / CGNAT
DNS
IP Address Management
CDN and caching infrastructure
Internet Peering and Transit
Review and validate network architecture, technical designs, and implementation plans.
2. Network Planning & Optimization
Collaborate with Core Network, Transport, Security, IT, and other SMEs on end-to-end broadband network planning.
Drive network optimization to improve capacity, resiliency, latency, throughput, and subscriber experience.
Lead capacity planning for Gi-Interface infrastructure, NAT platforms, IP address pools, and Internet connectivity.
Develop long-term technology and infrastructure roadmaps aligned with business and subscriber growth.
3. Incident Management & Technical Problem Solving
Provide technical leadership during critical and complex network incidents impacting subscriber internet services.
Lead technical investigation, troubleshooting, RCA, and post-incident reviews.
Drive permanent corrective actions and ensure lessons learned are incorporated into operational standards.
Act as the escalation point for complex issues requiring cross-domain or multi-vendor coordination.
4. IP Broadband & Telecom Technical Expertise
Provide technical expertise and domain knowledge for IT projects involving:
Internet Peering & Transit
CDN deployment and integration
Caching
Traffic Engineering
Load Balancing
NAT / LSN architecture
DNS architecture and performance
Analyze technical requirements and existing network environments to support solution design.
Validate proposed solutions and ensure alignment with IP Broadband & Telecom architecture, operational requirements, and project objectives.
Collaborate with users, engineers, and project teams to translate business requirements into feasible technical solutions.
5. Technical Governance & Standards
Establish and maintain technical standards, architecture guidelines, SOPs, and best practices for broadband IP services.
Review operational procedures and ensure alignment with network architecture and service requirements.
Provide technical governance and review for major network changes and expansion projects.
6. Automation & Innovation
Drive initiatives to improve network operations through automation, observability, analytics, and AI/ML.
Identify opportunities for automated fault detection, traffic steering, capacity monitoring, anomaly detection, and proactive network optimization.
Contribute to the development of an automation roadmap for the Broadband Internet domain.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum 7 years of experience in Telecom Broadband, IP Network, Core Network, or Internet Service Provider environments.
Strong understanding of IP networking and routing protocols, including:
BGP
OSPF
MPLS
QoS
Internet Peering
Routing Policy
Strong understanding of Broadband Internet architecture and Gi-Interface.
Hands-on or strong technical experience with F5 Load Balancer, including NAT, traffic steering, and LSN/CGNAT environments.
Strong understanding of DNS infrastructure, such as Infoblox, or equivalent platforms.
Experience with large-scale NAT/LSN/CGNAT platforms and IP address management.
Knowledge of CDN and Internet ecosystem, including platforms such as Akamai, Meta, Google, Netflix, or equivalent.
Strong understanding of network and subscriber QoE/QoS metrics, including throughput, latency, packet loss, jitter, and availability.
Proven experience handling large-scale network incidents, RCA, problem management, and post-mortems.
Experience working in multi-vendor telecom environments.
Preferred / Nice to Have
Experience working with major telecommunications carriers or large-scale ISPs.
Experience supporting broadband services with millions of subscribers.
Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Huawei, F5, Infoblox, or equivalent technologies.
Understanding of IPv6, Dual Stack, and IPv6 transition mechanisms.
Experience with network telemetry, observability, and performance monitoring.
Experience developing or implementing network automation.
Familiarity with AI/ML applications in network operations.
Experience leading cross-functional technical teams or major network transformation projects.
