DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow up and review remaining vendor documents (Shop Drawings, Inspection Procedures, Spare Parts Lists, Inspection Reports, etc.) for outstanding equipment, mainly including firefighting pumps and firefighting systems, genset fuel supply systems, and lifting davits, and prepare these documents for submission and approval by the Engineer.
Communicate with international and local vendors to obtain outstanding drawings, documents, and technical information; identify and clarify any design concerns or discrepancies through direct coordination with vendors.
Review detailed fabrication drawings for fabricated steel items and other steel fabrication works; provide appropriate instructions to fabricators to ensure the quality of delivered products meets project specifications and applicable standards.
Respond to inquiries and resolve technical issues raised by the Construction team related to equipment installation and operation & maintenance.
Support Testing and commissioning preparation by collecting necessary information from vendors (e.g., commissioning procedures, spare parts, technical manuals) and provide advice and cooperation regarding the overall Test Run plan as required.
Coordinate and manage the process for obtaining Local Authority approvals where required for relevant equipment (e.g., cranes, pressure vessels, gensets, firefighting systems, and other applicable equipment), including preparation/collection of necessary documentation and liaison with relevant authorities.
Prepare Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), where applicable, and verify vendor-proposed countermeasures against any defects identified.
Coordinate with vendors, the Construction team, and the Engineering team throughout the above activities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Direct Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering or equipment quality control of water/wastewater treatment plants or similar industrial facilities.
Good understanding of mechanical equipment commonly used in wastewater treatment plants, such as Screens, Grit Removal Equipment, Aeration Systems, Dewatering Machines, Pumps, Blowers, Mixers, Cranes, etc., including their basic working principles, structure, and installation requirements.
Experience in reviewing vendor documents (shop drawings, inspection procedures/reports) and coordinating with international vendors is preferable.
Experience or knowledge of fabricated steel items/steel fabrication quality control is an advantage.
Experience supporting Test Run/Commissioning activities is an advantage.
Experience or knowledge of Local Authority approval processes for equipment such as cranes, pressure vessels, gensets, and firefighting systems is an advantage.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
General knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to mechanical/water treatment equipment.
Strong communication and coordination skills to work effectively with vendors, Construction team, and Engineering team.
Ability to read and review technical drawings (shop drawings, fabrication drawings).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Teams).
Proficient oral and written English communication skills; ability to communicate with international vendors.
Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to work under time constraints toward the Test Run schedule.
Highly motivated and self-driven, with the flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing priorities and even last-minute requirements.
