Data Scientist

About the Role

Traveloka's Data Science team solves complex problems and optimizes various aspects of the business — from search and ranking to broader operational and business challenges. You'll work across a range of problems, translating business goals into technical solutions, and get to work closely with ML Engineering to bring your models into production.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business and product stakeholders to understand challenges and goals.
• Translate business problems into technical requirements and modeling approaches.
• Develop, evaluate, and iterate on data-driven models and solutions (e.g. ranking, or other optimization problems within the team's scope).
• Partner with ML Engineering to bring solutions into production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related field. Master's a plus.
• 3–5 years of experience in Data Science or a related role.
• Strong ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Familiar with LLM-based systems (embeddings, structured extraction)
• Experience in ranking, recommendation, or search relevance
• Familiar with Causal Inference or Econometrics
• Experience in Optimization Techniques or Simulation
• Strong Python and experience with ML/Stats libraries (scikit-learn, LGBM, XGBoost, etc.).
• Proficient in SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
• Proactive, self-motivated, comfortable working independently on ambiguous problems.
• Comfortable working alongside AI tools (eg. Claude Code) to accelerate model development and analysis.

Good to Have

• Experience with A/B testing and experimentation platforms.
• Experience building or deploying ML models in production.
• Travel, Hospitality, or OTA experience.
