About the role
Solution Architect role defining solution architecture for format digital initiatives. The role involves pressure-testing feasibility, integration complexity, and dependencies early in BRD / funding stage, translating product requirements into scalable technical solution designs, and ensuring solutions align with Group Tech architecture, security, data, and platform standards. You will support engineering handoff and resolve solution-design issues during build.
Key responsibilities
Define solution architecture for format digital initiatives
Pressure-test feasibility, integration complexity, and dependencies early in BRD / funding stage
Translate product requirements into scalable technical solution designs
Ensure solutions align with Group Tech architecture, security, data, and platform standards
Support engineering handoff and resolve solution-design issues during build
Recommend solution options and architecture trade-offs
Challenge designs that create technical debt, integration risk, or duplicated builds
Escalate unresolved architecture, security, dependency, or feasibility issues
Advise on buy / configure / build choices
Sign off solution readiness before build, where relevant
About you
6–10+ years in solution architecture, digital engineering, enterprise architecture, or systems integration
Retail / eCommerce / omnichannel platform experience preferred
Experience designing cross-system solutions across apps, APIs, middleware, data flows, security, and enterprise platforms
Cross-functional exposure working across Product, Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Data, Security, vendors, and business teams
Technical knowledge of APIs, integration patterns, cloud, security, non-functional requirements, and architecture governance
Systems and architecture judgment: understands how digital, data, platform, and enterprise systems connect, and can design scalable, maintainable solutions
Feasibility and trade-off thinking: makes pragmatic trade-offs across speed, cost, complexity, risk, reuse, and long-term architecture integrity
Business-tech translation: converts product and business intent into technical solution options that business and engineering teams can both understand
Governance and risk discipline: applies security, data, integration, observability, and non-functional guardrails without over-engineering
