Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for geotechnical interpretation, foundation design optimization, technical clarification, quality control, and acceptance of all 34.5 kV/138 kV transmission line and substation foundations to ensure safety, constructability, cost efficiency, and quality execution.
- Review and interpret geotechnical investigation reports, including borehole logs, laboratory test results, groundwater conditions, and seismic data, and establish foundation design parameters.
- Perform foundation design calculations for uplift, compression, lateral loads, settlement, sliding, overturning, and bearing capacity; optimize foundation type and dimensions.
- Design and review foundations for transmission towers, gantries, transformers, GIS/AIS equipment, control buildings, cable trenches, and other associated structures.
- Prepare foundation schedules, design calculations, construction drawings, reinforcement details, anchor bolt layouts, and earthing details.
- Develop BOQ, technical specifications, RFQs, and evaluate vendor quotations for concrete, reinforcement steel, anchor bolts, and other civil materials.
- Prepare and implement Method Statements and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) for excavation, rebar installation, anchor bolt setting, concrete pouring, curing, and backfilling activities.
- Supervise site surveying, setting-out, excavation works, dewatering operations, and foundation construction activities.
- Inspect borehole cleanliness, excavation dimensions, reinforcement installation, concrete quality, anchor bolt positioning, and foundation tolerances.
- Monitor concrete placement activities, including slump testing, temperature monitoring, cube sampling, and curing requirements.
- Arrange and witness plate load tests, pile load tests, and pull-out tests; review reports and approve foundation completion.
- Coordinate with transmission line and substation construction teams regarding foundation handover, anchor template installation, and as-built verification.
- Prepare as-built drawings, material certificates, test reports, quality records, and final turnover documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Philippine National Standards (PNS), NSCP 2019, ACI 318-19, project specifications, and client requirements.
- Support HSE implementation, including deep excavation protection, confined-space entry, dewatering safety, lifting operations, and night-work activities.
- Has experience in Transmission Line and Substation, probably renewable energy experience (Solar, wind, geothermal and etc.)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Licensed Civil Engineer is preferred.
- With strong professional maturity and field leadership experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in transmission line and substation foundation engineering for 69 kV and above projects, with at least 3 years of direct foundation design and construction experience.
- Proven experience in substation and transmission line projects, preferably for solar power plants, wind farms, battery energy storage systems (BESS), or other renewable energy projects.
- Experience in 138 kV and above transmission lines, substations, and renewable energy export transmission systems is highly preferred, at least 2-3 years of Substation and Transmission line experience.
- Has NGCP experience for the requirements and documentation.
- Proficient in SAP2000, PLAXIS, SAFE, AutoCAD, and foundation design software.
- Strong knowledge of Philippine soil conditions, geotechnical engineering practices, NSCP 2019 seismic requirements, and ACI 318-19 foundation and anchor bolt design.
- Familiar with transmission tower foundations, transformer foundations, equipment foundations, control buildings, cable trenches, and underground utility structures.
- Capable of preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, reports, and construction documentation in English.
- Working-level English proficiency for technical discussions, reporting, and coordination with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, coordination, problem-solving, and quality management skills.
- Physically fit for site inspections, tower foundation inspections, borehole investigations, and construction supervision activities.
