WELDING ENGINEER

PT. Mitra Karya Sarana, a leading Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company based in Kabil, Batam, is looking for passionate, highly motivated, and talented professionals to join our growing team.

Qualifications & Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related field.

2. Minimum 3 years of experience as a Welding Engineer in Steel Fabrication, EPC, Oil & Gas, or Construction industries.

3. Strong knowledge of international welding codes and standards, including AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, ISO 9606, and ISO 15614.

4. Proficient in developing, reviewing, implementing, and controlling WPS, PQR, and Welder Qualification (WQT/WPQ) documentation.

5. Hands-on experience with welding processes including SMAW, FCAW, GMAW (MIG/MAG), GTAW (TIG), and SAW.

6. Solid understanding of welding metallurgy, carbon and alloy steels, stainless steel, filler materials, preheating, interpass temperature, PWHT, and welding consumable control.

7. Familiar with steel fabrication processes, engineering drawings, welding symbols, BOM, cost estimation, weld traceability, MTC, and welding inspection methods (VT, PT, MT, UT, RT).

8. Professional certifications such as CSWIP 3.1, CWI, IWE, or IWT are an advantage.

9. Good command of English with strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, coordination, and multitasking skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.

10. Candidates based in Batam or the Riau Islands are preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, review, implement, and maintain welding procedures (WPS, PQR, and WQT/WPQ) in compliance with project specifications and international standards.

• Ensure all welding activities comply with approved procedures, engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality requirements.

• Coordinate welder qualification, welding procedure qualification, fabrication activities, welding inspections, NDT, and NCR resolution.

• Provide technical support on welding methods, parameters, consumables, and troubleshooting to optimize quality and productivity.

• Review fabrication drawings, welding symbols, technical documents, and support cost estimation and proposal preparation.

• Control welding consumables, weld traceability, MTCs, and project documentation to ensure compliance with customer, audit, and regulatory requirements.

• Collaborate and coordinate with cross-functional departments, including QA/QC, Production, Engineering, and Sales Engineering, to ensure successful project execution while promoting QHSE standards and continuous improvement.
