An English and Chinese Translator is responsible for accurately translating written materials between English and Chinese while maintaining the original meaning, tone, and cultural context. Typical responsibilities include:
- Translate documents, reports, contracts, manuals, emails, and other materials between English and Chinese (Simplified or Traditional, as required).
- Ensure translations are accurate, culturally appropriate, and consistent with the source material.
- Proofread, edit, and review translated content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and terminology.
- Research industry-specific terminology to ensure precise and professional translations.
- Interpret the meaning and intent of the original text while adapting language for the target audience.
- Maintain consistency by using translation memories, glossaries, and style guides.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and team members to clarify translation requirements.
- Meet project deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- Assist with localization of content to suit regional language and cultural preferences.
- Revise translations based on client feedback and quality assurance reviews.
- Provide language support for business correspondence, presentations, and other communication materials when needed.
Key Skills
- Native or near-native proficiency in both English and Chinese (Simplified and/or Traditional).
