DevOps Engineer (Azure)

We are looking for a hands-on DevOps / Platform Engineer to help build and operate our cloud infrastructure together with our engineering team. This is a highly technical role focused on cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, GitOps, observability, automation, and production operations. The successful candidate will work directly with senior engineers and will be expected to take ownership of systems, troubleshoot complex issues, improve automation, and contribute to the reliability and scalability of our platform. We are open to candidates ranging from strong junior-mid level engineers to experienced senior engineers. Capability, practical experience, and engineering mindset are more important than years of experience.

We are looking for engineers, not operators. The ideal candidate enjoys understanding how systems work, debugging difficult problems, automating repetitive work, and continuously improving infrastructure. We value practical experience and problem-solving ability more than certifications.

1. Linux & Command Line

The candidate should use Linux, macOS, or another Unix-like environment as their primary daily operating system. Expected skills:

a. Strong command-line proficiency

b. Server administration

c. Networking fundamentals

d. Log analysis and troubleshooting

e. Shell tooling and automation

2. Git

Strong Git skills are mandatory. The candidate should be comfortable with:

a. Branching strategies

b. Pull requests

c. Code reviews

d. Collaborative development workflows

3. Kubernetes

Practical production experience with Kubernetes is required. Examples include:

a. Deployments

b. Services

c. Ingress

d. Secrets

e. ConfigMaps

f. Resource management

g. Scaling

h. Troubleshooting

i. Security best practices

j. We are especially interested in candidates who have operated Kubernetes clusters in production environments.

4. GitOps

Experience with GitOps workflows is required. Preferred:

a. FluxCD

b. ArgoCD

c. Similar GitOps platforms

5. Azure

Strong Azure experience is required. Examples include:

a. AKS

b. Azure networking

c. Managed services

d. Identity and access management

e. Infrastructure operations

f. Monitoring and diagnostics

6. CI/CD

Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines. Examples:

a. GitHub Actions

b. GitLab CI/CD

c. Deployment automation

7. Observability & Monitoring

The candidate should understand how to operate production systems using modern observability tooling. Examples:

a. Prometheus

b. Grafana

c. OpenTelemetry

d. Metrics

e. Tracing

f. Alerting

g. Health checks and probes

8. Scripting & Automation

The candidate should be able to write and maintain automation scripts. Examples:

a. Bash

b. Shell scripting

c. Infrastructure automation

9. Communication

The candidate must:

a. Speak and write English fluently

b. Communicate clearly in written form

c. Produce useful technical documentation

d. Interact professionally with customers when required

e. Participate in incident response and support activities
