Job Role
The Head of Mining Operations & Engineering (KTT/PJO) is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing all mining engineering, operational execution, regulatory compliance, and project development activities within the nickel mining operation.
This role carries critical technical and operational accountability, including acting as the legal and technical leader for mining activities, ensuring compliance with ESDM regulations, managing mine development strategies, and leading operational teams toward safe, efficient, and sustainable production.
The successful candidate will manage the transition from exploration and infrastructure development into full-scale mining operations by overseeing mine planning, production readiness, contractor management, fleet optimization, cost control, and implementation of industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary technical and operational leader responsible for mining activities and compliance with Indonesian mining regulations.
Ensure implementation of Good Mining Practices (GMP), Mining Safety Management System (SMKP), HSE standards, and environmental compliance.
Lead greenfield mining development activities including mine planning, pit development, hauling road construction, infrastructure readiness, and production preparation.
Oversee mining operations including land clearing, overburden removal, ore getting, hauling, stockpile management, grade control, and logistics activities.
Develop and execute mine operation strategies to achieve production targets, operational efficiency, and cost optimization.
Manage fleet planning, equipment utilization, production scheduling, and operational budgeting to maximize productivity.
Lead preparation, evaluation, and control of key mining documents including RKAB, feasibility studies, mine plans, and environmental-related documentation.
Coordinate with government authorities, contractors, engineering teams, and operational stakeholders regarding permits, compliance, and project execution.
Manage and develop mining teams, contractors, and operational leaders to ensure strong performance and safety culture.
Monitor project milestones, production performance, operational risks, and improvement initiatives.
Prepare operational reports, production forecasts, budgeting updates, and strategic recommendations for senior management.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across mining operations, contractor management, productivity, and cost control.
Candidate Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or Geology is required.
Valid mining certifications including POP, POM, and POU (required for KTT legal responsibility).
Minimum 8–10 years of experience in mining operations, with strong exposure to nickel mining environments.
Proven experience in senior operational leadership roles such as KTT, Mining Manager, Project Mining Manager, or equivalent.
Strong experience managing greenfield mining projects from development stage through operational readiness.
Deep understanding of nickel mining operations, mine planning, production management, grade control, hauling, stockpile management, and shipping processes.
Strong knowledge of Indonesian mining regulations, ESDM requirements, RKAB processes, and environmental compliance.
Proven experience managing contractors, mining teams, equipment fleets, operational budgets, and cost control initiatives.
Strong leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Ability to manage large-scale site operations in challenging mining environments.
High integrity, discipline, adaptability, and commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Adequate English proficiency for technical communication and coordination.
