Physical Education Teacher Assistant

About the role

Canggu Community School (Badung) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Physical Education Teacher Assistant to join our secondary education team. This is a full-time position based in Bali that will support our Physical Education department in delivering engaging and dynamic programmes to our secondary students. As a Teacher Assistant, you will work collaboratively with the PE department to enhance student learning experiences, develop athletic skills, and foster a positive approach to health and wellbeing. This role is integral to supporting our mission of providing comprehensive, well-rounded education that encourages students to develop confidence, resilience, and a lifelong passion for physical activity.

Key responsibilities

1. Assist the Physical Education teacher in planning, preparing and delivering PE lessons to secondary students across various sports and fitness activities

2. Support the setup and management of PE equipment, facilities and learning spaces to ensure safe and effective learning environments

3. Provide encouragement and individualised support to students during physical activities, helping them develop their skills and confidence

4. Monitor student participation and behaviour during PE sessions, ensuring all students engage in a positive and inclusive manner

5. Assist with the organisation and supervision of school sports events, competitions, inter-house activities and extracurricular sports programmes

6. Help maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation and progress in physical education

7. Support students with differing physical abilities and learning needs, adapting activities and providing appropriate modifications as required

8. Contribute to the promotion of health, fitness and wellbeing initiatives throughout the school community

9. Communicate with the PE teacher and other staff members to ensure consistent approaches to student development and support

What we're looking for

1. A qualification or certification in Physical Education, sports science, coaching or a related field, or demonstrated experience working with young people in a sports or physical activity context

2. Knowledge of secondary-level PE curriculum and experience supporting PE delivery in an educational setting

3. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage equipment, resources and multiple activities effectively

4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers and colleagues

5. A genuine passion for physical education and a commitment to promoting active, healthy lifestyles amongst young people

6. The ability to work collaboratively within a team and take direction from senior staff members

7. Proficiency in English, both written and verbal

8. Physical fitness and the ability to demonstrate appropriate techniques and movements during PE activities

9. A flexible and adaptable approach to working in a dynamic international school environment

10. A current First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain one is highly desirable
