R&D Staff (Research & Development) - Skincare
Job Description
- Formulation Execution: Conduct laboratory experiments, weigh raw materials, and develop prototypes for new or modified formulas in accordance with the directed guidelines and specification targets.
- Stability & Physico-Chemical Testing: Perform daily physical and chemical testing on product samples (such as pH, viscosity, specific gravity, organoleptic, and accelerated stability tests) and accurately record the results.
- Documentation & Lab Administration: Prepare and organize technical documents, including Formula Sheets, Stability Reports, and Test Result Summaries, ensuring all laboratory data is neatly recorded and easily accessible.
- Third-Party Test Sample Preparation: Prepare, pack, and log product samples to be sent to external third-party laboratories or testing facilities for efficacy and safety validations.
- Inventory & Equipment Maintenance: Manage the stock and availability of raw materials in the laboratory, maintain workshop cleanliness, and ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated and ready for use.
- Lab-Scale Raw Material Evaluation: Assist in testing new raw material samples from vendors to evaluate their compatibility with existing formulations.
- Production Trial Support: Assist in monitoring pilot trials or initial commercial scale-up batches at the manufacturing facility to ensure lab formulations translate seamlessly to production machinery.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (S1) or Diploma (D3) in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, Food Technology, or a highly relevant scientific discipline.
- Minimum 1–2 years of professional experience in a R&D or Quality Control (QC) laboratory environment.
- Proficient in basic laboratory techniques, familiar with operating measuring instruments (e.g., pH meters, viscometers, refractometers), and skilled in precise chemical weighing.
- Preferred interest or experience in skincare, cosmetics, household products, or personal care sectors.
- Exceptionally meticulous in following work instructions, recording precise decimal test figures, and reading Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Able to interpret basic test data trends/graphs and promptly report any testing anomalies or discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with internal departments (such as Purchasing or Regulatory) and external partners (such as raw material vendors).
