About the role

PT Varley Indonesia is seeking a talented Sales Engineer Oil & Gas Wilayah Sumatera to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time position based in Palembang, Sumatera Selatan, where you will play a crucial role in driving sales growth and providing technical expertise to clients across the Sumatera region. As a Sales Engineer, you will be the bridge between our technical capabilities and our clients' operational needs, combining commercial acumen with deep engineering knowledge to deliver tailored solutions in the oil and gas industry.

What you'll be doing

  1. Identify and develop new business opportunities across the Sumatera region by building and maintaining strong relationships with oil and gas operators, contractors, and key stakeholders

  2. Provide technical expertise and engineering support to clients during the sales process, ensuring solutions meet their specific operational requirements and challenges

  3. Conduct site visits and feasibility studies to understand client needs and recommend appropriate products or services from the PT Varley Indonesia portfolio

  4. Prepare and present technical proposals, quotations, and presentations to prospective clients, clearly articulating the value proposition and benefits of our offerings

  5. Collaborate with internal engineering and operations teams to ensure solutions are technically sound, cost-effective, and aligned with client expectations

  6. Support the negotiation and closing of contracts, addressing technical queries and concerns raised by clients

  7. Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and market intelligence using company systems and databases

  8. Monitor market trends, competitive activities, and client requirements within the oil and gas sector in Sumatera to inform sales strategies

  9. Provide post-sale technical support and follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction and identify opportunities for repeat business or contract expansion

  10. Achieve and exceed assigned sales targets and key performance indicators for the region


What we're looking for

  1. Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or related discipline) or equivalent technical qualification

  2. Minimum 3-5 years of sales experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably in engineering, technical services, or equipment supply sectors

  3. Strong technical understanding of oil and gas operations, including drilling, production, maintenance, and equipment requirements

  4. Proven track record of successfully closing sales deals and achieving or exceeding sales targets in a technical environment

  5. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

  6. Strong relationship-building capabilities and the ability to network effectively within the oil and gas industry

  7. Proficiency in English and Bahasa Indonesia, both written and spoken

  8. Valid driving licence and willingness to travel frequently throughout the Sumatera region

  9. Familiarity with oil and gas maintenance and engineering standards would be advantageous

  10. Experience with CRM software and Microsoft Office suite is essential

  11. Knowledge of PT Varley Indonesia's products and services, or similar offerings in the sector, would be beneficial
