Art Teacher

The Art Teacher plays a vital role in fostering creativity, self-expression, and an appreciation for visual arts among students in an international school setting. Their primary purpose is to develop students’ artistic skills, critical thinking, and cultural awareness through engaging and meaningful art education.

Duties & Responsibilities

Teaching and Instruction:

• Plan and deliver engaging and age-appropriate art lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum.

• Teach a variety of artistic techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art, and mixed media.

• Foster creativity and self-expression by encouraging students to explore different artistic styles and concepts.

• Differentiate instruction to accommodate students with diverse learning needs, backgrounds, and artistic abilities.

• Integrate global and cultural perspectives into lessons to expose students to various art forms and traditions.

Assessment and Evaluation:

• Design and administer assessments to evaluate students' artistic growth and creativity.

• Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students on their artwork and creative processes.

• Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and prepare reports for parents and school administrators.

Classroom and Materials Management

• Maintain an organized, safe, and inspiring art classroom environment.

• Manage art supplies, tools, and equipment, ensuring they are available and well-maintained.

• Teach and enforce proper use and care of art materials, promoting safety in the art studio.

Collaboration and School Engagement:

• Work collaboratively with other teachers to integrate art into interdisciplinary learning experiences.

• Organize and curated student art exhibitions, competitions, and school-wide creative events.

• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and school activities.

Student Engagement and Extracurricular Activities

• Encourage students to express themselves artistically and develop confidence in their creative abilities.

• Lead or support extracurricular art clubs, workshops, and community art projects.

• Stay updated on trends in art education and bring innovative ideas to the classroom.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Visual Arts, or a related field.

• Additional certifications in specialized art fields (e.g., digital art, graphic design, ceramics) are an advantage.

• Minimum 2-3 years of teaching experience in an international school or similar educational setting.

• Experience teaching diverse student populations, including different age groups and cultural backgrounds.

• Strong knowledge of various art techniques, styles, and mediums, including traditional and digital art.

• Experience in organizing art exhibitions, competitions, and school-wide creative projects.

• Background in art history, cultural arts, or interdisciplinary learning.

• Police record check.

• Proficiency in the English language.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
