Head Finance Controller Role

We are hiring for Head of Financial Controller (FinTech)!

Overview:

We are seeking a highly analytical, technically exceptional, and bilingual Head of Financial Controller to oversee our financial governance, regulatory reporting, and internal control frameworks. As a FinTech player, our environment demands deep expertise in complex financial transactions, automated accounting systems, and stringent regulatory compliance.

This role requires native or professional fluency in Mandarin (written and spoken) to facilitate seamless communication, financial consolidation, and strategic alignment with regional stakeholders and/or parent holding entities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Financial Control & Governance

• Complex Financial Reporting: Oversee the end-to-end preparation and closure of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in strict compliance with IFRS, PSAK, and local FinTech regulations.

• Internal Controls Framework: Design, implement, and rigorously test robust internal control systems (SOX-equivalent or standard COSO framework) tailored for high-volume, automated digital transactions.

• Holding & Subsidiary Consolidation: Manage complex multi-entity consolidations, intercompany reconciliations, transfer pricing documentation, and foreign exchange (FX) risk mitigations.

2. FinTech Ledger & Systems Architecture

• Core Ledger Reconciliation: Partner with Product and Engineering teams to ensure seamless automated reconciliation between the operational transactional database (e.g., e-wallet balances, loan disbursements, virtual accounts) and the core accounting ledger.

• System Optimization: Champion the optimization and scaling of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite) to handle millions of daily transactional data points with zero-variance accuracy.

3. Regulatory, Tax, and Compliance

• Regulator Reporting: Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting to financial authorities (e.g., OJK, Bank Indonesia, or equivalent regional regulators depending on the final entity assignment).

• Advanced Tax Compliance: Oversee complex corporate tax computations, deferred tax liabilities, VAT/withholding tax for digital services, and ensure audit-ready status for local tax authorities.

4. Stakeholder Management & Mandarin Reporting

• Bilingual Reporting: Act as the primary financial liaison for regional stakeholders, board members, or parent holding entities. Translate complex financial data into comprehensive reports in both English and Mandarin.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

1. Education & Professional Certifications

• Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree (S1) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a reputable university. A Master’s Degree (S2) or MBA is highly preferred.

• Mandatory Certifications: Must hold a recognized professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, CA, ACCA, or CIMA).

2. Technical Experience

• Years of Experience: Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive experience in financial control, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership/head level role.

• Industry Background: Proven track record inside the FinTech industry (e.g., P2P lending, digital payments, neobanking) or a combination of Big 4 Audit firm experience + FinTech corporate experience.

• Technical Audit Trail: Deep knowledge of technical accounting treatments for financial instruments, loan provisioning (ECL models/PSAK 71), revenue recognition for digital platforms, and escrow/custodian account management.

3. Language & Communication Capabilities

• Mandarin Proficiency: Professional or Native fluency is mandatory. Must be able to conduct business meetings, write official financial memos, and analyze financial models/documents written in Mandarin. (Possession of an HSK 6 certificate or a degree from a Mandarin-speaking country is a massive plus).

• English Proficiency: Full professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
