Responsible for Tier 1 Safety (Data Center Focus)
Routine Safety Inspections: Conduct and support routine safety walkthroughs across data halls, critical equipment rooms, loading bays, office areas, and rooftop units. Identify trip hazards, blocked egress routes, unsecured tools, or other unsafe conditions. Utilize checklists tailored to the data center environment and escalate high-risk findings to Tier 2 or Safety Management.
Incident Support: Respond promptly to low-level safety incidents such as slips, minor first-aid events, or near-misses. Preserve the scene where applicable for post-incident investigation. Accurately document details, collect witness statements, and assist Tier 2 technicians or EHS leads in root cause analysis for lessons learned.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and restocking of safety infrastructure across the facility, including AEDs, eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, spill kits, PPE stations, and emergency lighting. Verify operational readiness and coordinate with facilities for service requests where issues are found.
Data Entry & Records Management: Maintain accurate digital records of daily inspections, equipment checks, safety briefings, and permit-to-work reviews using internal platforms or CMMS tools. Ensure logs are up to date and accessible for internal audits or compliance reporting.
Emergency Preparedness Support: Ensure the accuracy and visibility of emergency evacuation maps, muster point signage, and safety zone markings in leased and shared spaces. Assist in distributing emergency contact rosters and participate in routine evacuation drills, providing support for role calls and debriefs.
Compliance Support: Begin building familiarity with local, federal, and site-specific safety regulations, including OSHA 1910, NFPA 70E, and local fire code. Assist Tier 2 or EHS personnel in pre-audit checks, contractor onboarding reviews, and minor corrective action tracking.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Fluent in English Communications to work with international stakeholders.
Introductory safety training (OSHA 10, CPR/First Aid).
Good organizational and observational skills.
Willingness to learn and grow within the safety profession.
