About the role

AG Logistics (Hong Kong) Company Limited is a global company who is seeking an experienced Branch Manager to lead our operations in Surabaya, East Java. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial strategic role in driving the growth and profitability of our regional presence. As Branch Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of branch operations, managing teams, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring compliance with company standards and local regulations. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on our business expansion in Indonesia whilst building a high-performing team.

Working location: Surabaya

Key responsibilities

1.       Manage and maintain regular contact with ocean & air carriers and co-loaders with a view to minimize overall freight cost and ensure space commitment during peak periods

2.       Work with Sales department to develop new business and to gain a better understanding of customers’ needs with the aim to develop better work flow and products to meet their needs.

3.       Manage the day to day operation of the ocean & air freight business ensuring high quality of services are delivered to both internal and external customers.

4.       Respond to enquiries and price quotation request from overseas offices and agents ensuring response is timely and effective solutions are offered.

5.       Manage and coach Pricing & Operation executive to ensure ocean & air pricing is effective and data analysis is complied to track pricing performance.

6.       Act as liaison for internal and external communications with customers/agents. Manage ongoing relationship and ensure positive relationship is established with them.

7.       Ensure departmental compliance of standards and requirements including departmental quality objectives.

8.       Supervise and provide on-going guidance to Ocean & Air Operation teams ensuring their performance is up to requirements and standards, including providing feedback on work performance, conducting performance evaluation and recommend ways to close skills gap.

9.       Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow; review procedures to streamline process and improve efficiency

10.     Manage complaints from customers and agents ensuring that complaints are handled swiftly and that effective resolution is recommended; recommend processes and procedures to prevent further reoccurrence of similar complaints.

11.     Build strong relationships with new and existing clients to continuously improve profitability.

What we're looking for

Education: Degree holder in Logistics or related discipline.

Technical Skills:

  • Good understanding of the logistics industry in particularly ocean & air operations

  • Effective Co-loader and carrier relationship skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Industry experience:

  • At least 8 years’ experience in the logistics, freight forwarding industry including US trade.

  • Excellent airlines/ carriers network will be an advantage.

Management skills:

  • Able to work independently.

  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

  • Effective people management skills – supervising, coaching and developing staff

Personal qualities:

  • Honest with strong Integrity and hard-working,

  • Organized and detail oriented

  • Able to work under pressure

Technology skills: Proficient use of MS Office Suite

Language skills: Fluent in English and Indonesian is essential;. Prefer more than one languages.

Communication skills: Good communication and presentation skills, Excellent networking and interpersonal skills
